Why is there no map/mod "versioning" or "version archive" feature available on this website?

Why is there no map/mod "versioning" or "version archive" feature available on this website?
Unlike other websites, we decided to not provide a maps/mods "versioning" or "version archive" feature for a few very good reasons:
-
Small Updates: There is probably no need to keep the previous version available, because small updates would generally be bug fixes and there is no point keeping a bugged version of a map/mod available.
-
Large Updates: It would probably be best to keep the old version available as a separate submission, because large updates would generally include a lot of changes which could make it quite different to its previous version. It's nice to have older (quality) versions available.
-
Too Many Versions: Imagine a scenario where someone makes 30 different versions of their map/mod, only each version is a small update to a previous version which was bugged. This scenario would make it hard to find the quality/working versions of the map/mod. Clearly a "versioning" feature would only make it easier for developers to get carried away (or be lazy) and make all of those potentially "useless" or bugged versions available which only makes it harder to find good versions of the map/mod.
-
Clarity: It's more clear which comments and extras are meant towards each specific version. Especially for the most popular maps and mods - you wouldn't want to have to look through hundreds (or thousands) of comments and extras to try and figure out which comment/extra belongs to which version.

Should I edit/update my old submission when I have a new version available or submit it as a new, separate submission?

Should I edit/update my old submission when I have a new version available or submit it as a new, separate submission?
You have two options at Starcraft2Maps.net - you can edit/update your existing submission or submit a new one. If you submit a new one, your old version will remain accessible. The idea is this that, if your fixing a few small bugs than it is best to simply update your existing submission with your new version. However, if you've made some big changes, added some new features, or feel your previous version is good or unique so that it should still be accessible, than submit your new version as a new, separate submission and mark your old submission as an "old version" to help users identify it as a older version of your map/mod.
